During a special gala evening in Stormont Hotel, the 20 NI Asda staff received ‘big anniversary’ recognition for their dedicated service

Asda colleagues across Northern Ireland are celebrating a collective 590 years of service with the retail giant.

During a special gala evening in Stormont Hotel, the 20 Asda staff received ‘big anniversary’ recognition for their dedicated service up to 2023.

The evening last Thursday honoured colleagues, section leaders and managers from across Asda’s eight Northern Ireland stores.

The Dundonald staff were Eunice Stoops and Evelyn Spence who have clocked up 40 years while Simon Fisher, Janice Campbell and Trevor Adams reached 25 years.

In Asda Omagh was Anna McNulty with 35 years’ service while Martina Wilson reached her 30-year milestone and Shauna Kelly celebrated her 25th anniversary at the in Strabane store.

Ballyclare Asda recognised Gladys McDowell for 25 years and Yvonne McAuley for 30 years, while in Downpatrick Patrick Dobbin and Fintan O'Connor got their 25 years badge.

Meanwhile in Enniskillen, Jennifer Cochrane celebrated 40 years, Trudy Taylor 30 years and Heather Burns 25 years.

In Newtownards, Amanda Dougan was honoured for her 35 years service and Amanda Vance for 30 years. And finally in Westwood, William Brown marked 30 years while Danielle Smyth and Catriona Gilroy were recognised for 25 years.

Congratulating the award recipients, Niall Keyes, senior director for Asda Northern Ireland, said: “Our colleagues really are the heartbeat of our stores. I was absolutely honoured to celebrate with colleagues of a combined nearly 600 years’ service in the room.

“The Big Asda Celebration event was a great opportunity to recognise some of our longest serving colleagues and I am so proud of them. I look forward to catching up with them all in store again soon.”

Asda Strabane colleague, Martina Wilson, added: “Along with the rest of our team, I was delighted to attend the Big Anniversary celebration event. It was a wonderful opportunity to have some fun, congratulate each other, and reflect on all of the great memories we’ve shared over the years with Asda.”
